TDLAS Methane Sensor for Environmental Emission Monitoring: Precision Meets Affordability
Release time:2026-09-13
Methane is a potent greenhouse gas with a short-term warming potential far exceeding CO₂. According to the International Energy Agency, global methane emissions reached 349 million tonnes in 2023, with the energy sector accounting for 36.8%—and the oil and gas industry contributing 62% of that total. The IEA estimates that 75% of methane emissions in the oil and gas sector can be reduced with existing technologies and best practices.
Accurate, reliable methane monitoring is therefore a critical requirement in environmental emission management. Traditional catalytic and electrochemical sensors suffer from drift, poisoning, and frequent calibration needs—problems that undermine both data quality and operational efficiency.
The JT-PL-T1 TDLAS Laser Methane Sensor Module addresses these challenges directly. Based on tunable diode laser absorption spectroscopy, it provides methane-specific detection with strong immunity to water vapor, dust, and other combustible gases. Key performance metrics include ±3%LEL basic error, 0.1%LEL resolution, and ≤2% repeatability—sufficient for industrial emission monitoring and environmental monitoring stations.
For long-term, continuous monitoring deployments, JT-PL-T1‘s factory calibration-free and maintenance-free design is a decisive advantage. The built-in temperature compensation algorithm ensures stable performance across -10°C to 55°C, while typical power consumption of ≤0.42W supports battery-powered and low-power deployment scenarios.
TDLAS methane sensors are already widely employed for industrial safety and environmental monitoring, valued for their non-contact detection, fast response, and resistance to electromagnetic interference. JT-PL-T1 brings this capability to a cost-effective, module-level form factor, enabling OEMs and system integrators to embed high-precision methane detection into environmental monitoring equipment.
Whether for industrial emission control, landfill gas monitoring, or carbon accounting and reduction projects, JT-PL-T1 serves as a reliable core sensing component for building more precise and more economical methane emission monitoring systems.
